Le Dilemme de la Gazelle

Eat or be eaten? This is a cruel dilemma faced by many animals. In the African savannah, the Thomson's gazelle must, in order to survive, lower its head to reach the grass it feeds on, at the risk of neglecting the predators that lie in wait for it. Evolution imposes choices on species at every moment. These are the “biological dilemmas”. Human beings are no exception to this rule of life. Derived from our biology, our environment, our culture, these dilemmas modulate our choices, establish our limits. They influence our individual stories, underpin our multiple differences. They have made biodiversity on our planet possible. A unique look at the evolution of species that allows us to understand our individual journeys. So close your eyes for a moment, you are a Thomson's gazelle...

“Dans une synthèse enlevée, le biologiste Denis Réale montre que le “dilemme biologique » structure le vivant à toutes les échelles...»
